Sacred art and church furnishings from Val Gardena, handcrafted in Ortisei
Religious sculptures and altar furnishings made from wood, bronze and stone using traditional sculpting techniques.
Filip has been familiar with the mellow, rounded fragrance of fresh pine since childhood. He carried out his early experiments in his father’s studio, a light room with large windows. Two simple screwdrivers served as his first tools.
Classical music would have been playing in the background, just as it does today. Over the decades and through the changing seasons, Christmas oratorios and Easter masses formed the backdrop to the creation of countless sacred masterpieces, which can still be admired in churches across various countries today.
Filip Piccolruaz in Ortisei can be commissioned to create Madonnas, Christ figures, nativity scenes, stations of the cross and holy figures in different sizes and materials, as well as artistic architecture ranging from altars to baptismal fonts. Stylistic genres range from the romantic and Byzantine to the Gothic, Baroque, Rococo, Classical and Modern. These sacred artworks can be carved from pine, lime wood, chestnut, walnut, birch, maple, cherry, and other types of wood, as well as bronze, stone, and marble. All Piccolruaz religious sculptures and church pieces are unique, handcrafted items.
